Mr. Murphy is the Program Manager at DW Smith Associates, specializing in Environmental Permitting, Utility, Right-Of-Way, Topographic, Boundary, Tideland, Riparian and Wetlands Surveys. For eight years prior to working for DW Smith, he worked on Right-Of-Way, Route and NJDOT Highway Surveys. Mr. Murphy also has expertise with Land Title Records Research, Surveying, Mapping, Design and CADD calculations. He has worked with Leica and Trimble Fast Static and Real Time Kinematic post processing software. Mr. Murphy assisted in developing the blue book GPS observations for the Burlington County GPS Network back in the late 90’s.
Mr. Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University in 1987 with a specialization in Water Resources & Environment, and joined DW Smith Associates in 2006. He holds Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licenses in the States of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. Mr. Murphy is also licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in New Jersey. As part of his continued education, he recently completed a Permaculture Design Certificate course with Geoff Lawton and a founding member of Perma Ethos which helps teach people about Permaculture.
Mr. Murphy is a member of the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors, Ocean County Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers and is an active member of the NJ Alliance for Action. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Ocean County College, where he recently received a certificate of Loyal Service for 20+ years of service.
As the father of three, Mr. Murphy balances his time between career and family. He enjoys gardening, Suburban Permaculture, sailing, reading and is an avid fan of European soccer.
