Mr. Lurie was promoted to Vice President of PS&S in May 2020. He was previously a Principal of DW Smith Associates since 2002 after being an essential team member since 1997. Mr. Lurie specializes in Civil Engineering, Municipal Engineering and Planning. Starting in 1993, he has had extensive experience in Land Development, Landfill Design, ADA Analysis, Environmental Permitting, CAFRA Design and Waterfront Development. Mr. Lurie is also considered an expert in Engineering by the Monmouth County Superior Court for testimony.

Mr. Lurie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1990 and a Master’s Degree in Coastal Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1993. He holds licenses as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Ohio and Virginia. Mr. Lurie is also a licensed Professional Planner (PP) and Certified Municipal Engineer (CME) in New Jersey.

Mr. Lurie’s professional memberships include the Ocean County Society of Professional Engineers (Past President), NJ Society of Municipal Engineers, Utility and Transportation Contractors Association (UTCA), NJ Builders Association and Shore Builders Association of Central NJ, where he serves on the Associates Committee and as an Executive Director to the Board.

Mr. Lurie is an active member of his community, having served on the Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council and Planning Board for numerous years. He was highly involved in the restoration of Point Pleasant Beach following Superstorm Sandy and continues to support efforts to repair and rebuild the Jersey Shore. Additionally, Mr. Lurie is currently a mentor of high school seniors at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) in Sandy Hook for senior design projects in the coastal engineering field.
