Lakewood, NJ (July 28, 2005)
– D.W. Smith Associates, LLC, is commemorating 40 years of
eco-friendly land development design, and announcing an
enhanced package of services.
The company has added five new divisions, which enable it to
meet a broader spectrum of client needs. The environmental
site remediation division, for example, provides commercial
Underground Storage Tank (UST) investigation and remediation,
historic fill evaluation, pesticide investigation, groundwater
contamination delineations, and Phase I and II site
assessments.
“This division offers full service in-house capabilities for
any site development projects,” said Kevin Rothauser, Senior
Project Manager of Environmental Services, noting that D.W.
Smith works under NJDEP regulations to provide start-to-finish
investigations and remediation.
Engineering services have been enhanced with the addition of a
full service structural division offering developers, builders
and architects in-house structural design and investigative
services for bridges, structures, dams, building retrofits,
etc. “Structural engineering services have been one of the
most sought after services requested by DWSA clients where the
addition of the service was a natural extension of DWSA’s
engineering services” said Jim Phillips, PE Chief Engineer.
The Information Technology division was created to offer
clients superior IT services, including server and cabling
installations, upgrades, remote connectivity, data back up and
failure recovery. “Because of the large-scale digital needs
most engineering and other technical firms use, D.W. Smith is
able to provide the IT services necessary to keep their
networks secure and effective,” said John Harper – Senior
Project Manager of IT Services
In addition, full-color digital imagery services help depict
what a project will look like at completion. “Our business is
very visual and many of our clients and review agents like to
see a 3-D image of what our project design will look like when
completed,” said Nicky Coppola, Director of Operations.
Imagery services are further enhanced with the firms expanded
Geographic Information System (GIS) services where data is
integrated with geography to allow professionals the ability
to study site constraints and specifications, while clients
can visually interpret them,” said Alex Nemeth, GIS
Specialist.
“The company has evolved in its 40 years to meet the market
demand for environmentally aware projects,” says CEO Nick
Coppola, who has been with the company pretty much since its
inception. He is proud of the company’s stance on
conflict-free municipal work, while consistently developing
itself to meet the needs of the environmental and engineering
industry and its regulations.
"Our long-standing partnership has been successful for many
years," says Doug Fenichel, a spokesman for K. Hovnanian
Homes, the largest builder in New Jersey and one of the
largest in the nation. The company has partnered with D.W.
Smith for more than 30 years, and is currently redeveloping
the Long Branch boardwalk with the firm.
Among its many projects, D.W. Smith is developing a 12-acre
vacant site in Long Branch into Manahassett Creek Park. The
City is in the midst of a budding revitalization, and the
company is pleased to do its part to help. The company also
developed the arena for N.J.’s minor league baseball team, the
BlueClaws, and has designed many developments in the popular
Jersey Shore retirement region such as Leisure Village and
Leisure Knoll.
D.W. Smith Associates was founded in 1965, and has served
residential and commercial developers, industries,
municipalities, governmental agencies and individuals. In
1995, D.W. Smith Associates obtained an internationally
registered trademark certificate for “Greengineering®,” which
describes the company’s environmentally friendly approach to
land development design.
