Farmingdale, NJ (February 1, 2006)
– D.W. Smith Associates, LLC, has unveiled an expanded array
of environmental services that enable property owners to
meet today’s ever-changing state and federal regulations.
An entirely new environmental Site Remediation department
was recently added to service the Firm’s redevelopment
projects. Led by Kevin Rothauser, Site Remediation Services
Manager, this new department coupled with D.W. Smith’s
natural resource services enables the firm to provide
complete in-house environmental services for their client
base.
Rothauser previously served as manager of environmental
services for a New Jersey-based engineering firm serving
county and municipal agencies along with providing
consulting services to some of the top insurance companies
in the region. He brings over a decade of hands on expertise
to the position and a cross section of industry insight
rarely seen in his field. Some of the new services include:
Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, soil
investigations, pesticide sampling, groundwater studies and
complete site remediation. “As developable land becomes
scarcer, D.W. Smith will be in a good position to
Greengineer® environmentally impaired sites back into
productive use” said Rothauser.
The Firm’s existing natural resource services of wetland
delineations, natural resource inventories, and feasibility
studies were likewise expanded to include: threatened and
endangered species surveys, wetland restoration and
woodlands management. “These services are essential in
today’s land development industry and fit well with our
Greengineering® philosophy” says Victor J. Coppola, Director
of Environmental Services for the firm.
Mr. Coppola is excited about the new offering, and believes
the new services will benefit existing and new clients.
“D.W. Smith has, for years, received many requests from our
existing client base to incorporate site remediation
services into the balance of land development services
already provided by the firm. I can not tell you how pleased
we are to have Rothauser on board to spearhead the
initiative and be a member of our team.”
To meet the challenges that many property owners face, the
department uses the latest technological advancements in the
environmental industry to perform on-site activities and
offers cost-effective environmental consulting services to
bring projects into compliance with current state and
federal regulations. The staff maintains up-to-date
certifications, including UST Subsurface Evaluation and
wetland certifications. They have expertise with permit
applications for Waterfront Development, Coastal Area
Facility Review Act (CAFRA), Wetlands, the Pinelands
Commission and the US Army Corps of Engineers to name just a
few.
D.W. Smith Associates was founded in 1965, and has served
residential and commercial developers, industries,
municipalities, governmental agencies and individuals. The
Firm received an internationally registered trademark
certificate for “Greengineering®,” which describes the
company’s environmentally friendly approach to land
development design.
