Mr. Mele is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), licensed Professional Planner (PP) and Certified Municipal Engineer (CME) in the State of New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioresource Engineering from Rutgers University, School of Engineering in 2000. Mr. Mele joined DW Smith Associates in 2013.

Mr. Mele specializes in Civil Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Planning and Community Association Services. Prior to obtaining his engineering degree, he gained extensive hands-on experience in the home improvement industry. Between 1999 and 2001, he expanded his experience in the fields of Environmental Consulting, Remediation Engineering and Construction Services. Since 2001, he has extended his expertise in the fields of Land Development, Land Use Board Review, Government Agency Permitting, ADA Analysis and Field Inspection Services.

Mr. Mele’s professional memberships include the Ocean County Society of Professional Engineers (Past President), the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers, the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) and the Community Association Institute, where he serves on the Conference and Expo Committee.

Mr. Mele is an active member of his community, volunteers at the Mathcounts competition for middle school students in Ocean County and was highly involved in the restoration of Brick Township following Super Storm Sandy. Additionally, being married with two young children, Mr. Mele balances work and family.
